Two years ago to the day, I followed a group of friends out from our campsite to the opposite end of Three Sisters Park. It was the final evening of Summercamp Music Festival and we were on our way to check out someone I had only vaguely heard of: Pretty Lights. At that point, I had very little exposure to the electronic and dubstep genera so I really had no idea what was in store. It may have been the perfect weather or the fact that the set took place in the middle of a farm field at dusk, but even without the external factors helping to enhance the experience, the fact is that the show that night was easily my most memorable concert of 2010.
Pretty Lights’ ability to sample songs and mash them with glitchy and organic beats has made him one of the kings of the electronic movement. So whenever a new song hits the web I get pretty (pun intended) excited. Enjoy the recent release “You Get High” as well as his take on John Denver’s “Country Roads” below.
